Covid cases across the country are surging as Christmas approaches, meaning many will be spending Christmas in isolation this year.
The highest daily figures since the start of the pandemic were 93, new cases, reported on Saturday 18 December. But with Christmas just days away, it's understandable that people are anxious to receive their results sooner rather than later. Some people in Greater Manchester claim they have been left waiting several days for PCR test results.
PCR tests are sent to a lab to be checked, so the results can take a couple of days to come through. According to the government, you should get your results by email and text within two days of returning your testing the kit. The NHS has said that most people get their result the next day, but it may take up to three days. If you do not get your results by day six, the NHS advise ringing - which is free to call from mobiles and landlines.
